Sciton Broadband Light (BBL)

Broadband light therapy (BBL), also known as a photo facial, is a type of light treatment that has become popular for its ability to treat multiple skin concerns.

BBL is a noninvasive procedure that uses high-intensity light to improve skin conditions and promote collagen production.
This can lead to firmer, clearer and more youthful skin.

BBL targets a range of skin issues, including sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, redness and uneven skin tone
and texture.

Aside from our broadband light therapy treatments, we offer a range of comprehensive medical grade skin treatments, including Sciton BBL Hero, Sciton BBL Forever Young, Sciton Moxi, Vivace, Sciton BBL SkinTyte, HIFU and PRP (platelet rich plasma), helping to enhance a radiant complexion that highlights your natural glow.

At Aura Mediclinic, based on the Gold Coast in
Ashmore, we proudly serve residents from we all of the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Northern NSW areas.

Here’s a guide to help you prepare for your Sciton broadband light (BBL) treatment and understand the steps involved.

What to do before your treatment:

  • Use sunscreen and physical sun protection.
  • Avoid extended sun exposure, i.e. beach, travel to sunny locations, sunbathing, sports outdoors.
  • Inform your BBL clinician if you have been prescribed Accutane in the last six months.
  • Inform your clinician of any medical conditions or medications you are taking that may increase your light sensitivity or affect healing or coagulation.

What to expect during your treatment:

  • The procedure is typically gentle and safe.
  • Your clinician may apply a topical anaesthetic.
  • Your eyes will be protected with safety shields.
  • You may feel warm or rubber band snap sensations as the light is absorbed into the treated area.

What to do after your treatment:

  • You may experience some redness in the treatment area that should resolve within a few hours.
  • You may notice darkening of your pigmented spots, followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage.
  • Follow your clinician’s aftercare plan until your skin is completely healed. This is typically one week after the treatment.
